Nir > Stock photo shot October 2006 in Cividale del Friuli, Italy. Traditionally founded in 50BC by Julius Caesar it became the capital of the first Longobard Dukedom in Italy in 568. In 1420 the city was included in the Venetian Republic and eventually recognised as the historical and cultural capital of Friuli.
Located at the foot of the Julian Alps Cividale was a fortified city surrounded by a wall. Today it is a colorful cultural and historical location bursting with tourism, narrow streets, cafes, Italian restaurants and pubs. Photo displays spectators of a parade looking out through the windows of their homes to the street below. Two women peak through a flower decorated window.
Nir > Stock photo shot through an open window of Bled Castle, Vstopnina Blejski Grad, displaying the landscape below. The Bled Lake is visible, the island and the surrounding mountains and forests. Shot in Slovenia in October 2006. The Bled Region is situated in the heart of the Slovanian Alpine regine with Mt. Triglav of the Julian Alps looming over the valley. The rivers Sava Bohinjka and Radovna made their way to the center of the region - Lake Bled. Surrounded by green countryside, highly arable land, lush pastures and forests and rivers rich in fish, it was settled in the early Middle Ages. Bled rose from historic anonymity in 1004 when it was assigned to the Brixen Church by King Henry II. Bled Castle was first mentioned in 1011. Bled is today a very touristic city attracting travelers from all over the world.
